René Pfaff completed a BA (cum laude), BA Hons (cum laude) and MA Psychology at the University of Pretoria. She has been a registered Counselling Psychologist for the past 17 years. After completing her Masters Dissertation in the area of Child Psychology she spent time at a School for Learning Disabled learners, various colleges, universities and organisations after which she started her private practice.
She assists clients to gain insight into themselves and others. She works together with her clients to work through and eliminate barriers and self-limiting beliefs in order for each individual and family to become the successful and happy people that they were all meant to be. “I have a passion for unleashing each unique individual’s full potential whilst allowing them to fully enjoy and cherish all aspects of the gift called “life”. She is married and mother to 3 children, Danée, Darius and Ruben. René lives and practices in Somerset West. She works in Afrikaans and English. Rene is contracted to all medical aids but also offers discounted cash rates for those who need to pay privately.
Lizelle Fryer completed my matric in 1997 and then enrolled for an Educare course at Boland College where she worked daily with toddlers and small children. Thereafter she enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch and completed her BEd degree, qualifying as a senior phase teacher and thereafer completed a BEdHons degree with Educational Psychology as a major. After spending time in America and Dubai she started working at Herzlia High School as a Vocational Teacher. Her role entailed working with learners that struggled to cope with mainstream education.
She worked at the Good Hope Psychological Services in Paarl where she was able to assist children and adults from underprivileged areas. Lizelle further has experience at Vera, school for learners with Autism and special needs.
Lizelle is proud to call herself a Psychologist and believe that this is what she was supposed to do with her life. She is passionate about making a positive change in people’s lives. Furthermore, she strives to work in an ethically sound manner within a Bio-Ecological framework. She believes in empowering the people that work with and care for children and therefore her involvement and interaction with parents and teachers are of utmost importance.
Lizelle offers services related to psychometric assessments (psycho-educational-, school readiness-, subject choice-; career choice- and emotional intelligence assessments), therapy interventions, play therapy. personal development (study skills, time management etc.), as well as parental guidance related to the wellbeing of children and adolescents.
Lizelle is married and practices in Somerset West. She works with all toddlers and all school-aged children, including teenagers. Her sessions are facilitated in English or Afrikaans and she is available after hours or weekends.
Lianie Jacobs is a registered Educational Psychologist and enjoys working with children of all ages. She completed her BEd Psychology degree at Stellenbosch University and started her career as a teacher at an all girls’ school in Newlands, Cape Town. She later relocated to Somerset West where she continued teaching and counselling whilst completing her MEd Psychology (cum laude) degree at Stellenbosch University. She experienced the best of both worlds when she completed her internship partly at a non-profit organisation where she worked mainly with children, parents and teachers from under-privileged areas and partly at a prestigious high school. Lianie is the Educational Psychologist at a high school in the Helderberg area and also works in private practice. She has experience in working with adolescents in particular and has good insight in the school system and its practices.
Lianie has a passion for children and feels that a child’s voice must be heard. She is a firm believer that therapy is a team effort and therefore strives to work closely with the child’s parents, teachers and other relevant role players. Her approach aims at helping and empowering the individual to adjust, develop and grow in the areas of self, family and peer relationships as well as academic achievement. In her work she values that every individual has a choice and the ability to take responsibility for their own life.
Lianie offers services that include psychotherapy (play therapy, person centered therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques), parent guidance, psycho-education and personal development (self-esteem, study skills etc.) as well as assessments (psycho-educational, school readiness and concessions) with a particular interest in career and subject choice assessments.
Lianie cherishes family and loves spending her free time in the bushveld and being close to wild life. She lives in Strand with her husband and works in Somerset West.
Lianie facilitates sessions in either English or Afrikaans and is available on weekday afternoons and on Saturdays.
