René Pfaff completed a BA (cum laude), BA Hons (cum laude) and MA Psychology at the University of Pretoria. She has been a registered Counselling Psychologist for the past 17 years. After completing her Masters Dissertation in the area of Child Psychology she spent time at a School for Learning Disabled learners, various colleges, universities and organisations after which she started her private practice.
She assists clients to gain insight into themselves and others. She works together with her clients to work through and eliminate barriers and self-limiting beliefs in order for each individual and family to become the successful and happy people that they were all meant to be. “I have a passion for unleashing each unique individual’s full potential whilst allowing them to fully enjoy and cherish all aspects of the gift called “life”. She is married and mother to 3 children, Danée, Darius and Ruben. René lives and practices in Somerset West. She works in Afrikaans and English. Rene is contracted to all medical aids but also offers discounted cash rates for those who need to pay privately.
Lizelle Fryer completed my matric in 1997 and then enrolled for an Educare course at Boland College where she worked daily with toddlers and small children. Thereafter she enrolled at the University of Stellenbosch and completed her BEd degree, qualifying as a senior phase teacher and thereafer completed a BEdHons degree with Educational Psychology as a major. After spending time in America and Dubai she started working at Herzlia High School as a Vocational Teacher. Her role entailed working with learners that struggled to cope with mainstream education.
She worked at the Good Hope Psychological Services in Paarl where she was able to assist children and adults from underprivileged areas. Lizelle further has experience at Vera, school for learners with Autism and special needs.
Lizelle is proud to call herself a Psychologist and believe that this is what she was supposed to do with her life. She is passionate about making a positive change in people’s lives. Furthermore, she strives to work in an ethically sound manner within a Bio-Ecological framework. She believes in empowering the people that work with and care for children and therefore her involvement and interaction with parents and teachers are of utmost importance.
Lizelle offers services related to psychometric assessments (psycho-educational-, school readiness-, subject choice-; career choice- and emotional intelligence assessments), therapy interventions, play therapy. personal development (study skills, time management etc.), as well as parental guidance related to the wellbeing of children and adolescents.
Lizelle is married and practices in Somerset West. She works with all toddlers and all school-aged children, including teenagers. Her sessions are facilitated in English or Afrikaans and she is available after hours or weekends.
René van der Bank completed her BA Hons (Social Work) degree at the University of Stellenbosch and shortly thereafter relocated to the United Kingdom. During this time she also completed a Post Qualifying Award in Social Work (PQI) through the Royal Holloway University of London.
Over a period of ten years in the United Kingdom, René practised as a registered Child Protection Social Worker, within different Child Protection Teams across several Boroughs. During this time she gained extensive experience in completing multi-disciplinary assessments for Children in need, undertaking Care Proceedings and attending court. René also spent time in a Fostering and Adoption Team where she acquired a range of skills working with foster carers and the adoption process.
Since returning to South Africa, Rene has registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions and has been involved in community projects undertaken by CABSA (Christian Aids Buro of South Africa). She has also supported staff members through bereavement counselling sessions at the Helderberg Society for the Aged.
It is René’s passion to advocate for children by focussing on their wishes and feelings. She strives to empower children and their families to promote their own strengths and thereby enabling them to achieve necessary change.
René lives in Somerset West with her husband and two children. She is practising from the practice of René Phaff & Associates and is able to facilitate sessions in Afrikaans and English.
